Email Configuration Guide for iPhone & Android

This document provides detailed instructions for configuring your email client for got.net email service. Please follow these settings to ensure secure and efficient email communication.

 

Make sure your username is changed from the old format of 'username' to the new format of 'username@got.net'

 

If your email address is not an @got.net email address, use that domain instead @got.net (for example barney@flintstones.com not barney@got.net)

Try logging into your webmail at https://webmail.got.net to see if your username and password are working.

 


 

General Settings

  • Email Address: Your full email address (e.g., yourname@got.net)
  • Username: Your full email address (e.g., yourname@got.net)
  • Password: Your email account password
  • Hostname (POP3/IMAP): mail.got.net
  • Hostname (SMTP): mail.got.net

NOTE: Update your SMTP host from mx.got.net to mail.got.net


 

SMTP Settings (For Outgoing Mail)

●    Server Address: mail.got.net

●    Port: 587 / Security: STARTTLS

      or 

      Port 465 / Security: SSL

●    Authentication Required: password

●    Username: Your full email address (e.g., yourname@got.net)

●    Password: Your email account password

 


 

IMAP Settings (For Incoming Mail)

●    Server Address: mail.got.net

●    Port: 143 / Security: STARTTLS

      or 

      Port:993 /Security SSL

●    Authentication Required: password

●    Username: Your full email address (e.g., yourname@got.net)

●    Password: Your email account password

 


 

POP3 Settings (For Incoming Mail)

●    Server Address: mail.got.net

●    Port: 110 / Security: STARTTLS

      or

      Port: 995 / Security: SSL

●    Authentication Required: password

●    Username: Your full email address (e.g., yourname@got.net)

●    Password: Your email account password

 


 

Webmail

●    For those currently utilizing our webmail interface, after the migration is complete, please update your bookmarks to the following URL.

Webmail Interface URL: https://webmail.got.net

You will want to note that:

●    Username: Your full email address (e.g., yourname@got.net)

●    Password: Your email account password

Introduction

This document provides detailed instructions for updating your email client settings for the new got.net email system.

Hostname (POP3/IMAP): mail.got.net

Hostname (SMTP): mail.got.net

 


iOS Devices (iPhone and iPad) Configuration

Steps for iOS Mail:

Go to 'Settings' > 'Mail' > 'Accounts'.

Select your existing got.net account to update.

*If selecting a new account, choose 'Other' and tap 'Add Mail Account'.

 Enter your name, email address, password, and a description for your account.
*unnecessary for existing accounts - see below for current email hostname, port and security settings

        For incoming mail server settings, choose either:

●   IMAP: Host Name: mail.got.net, Port: 143, Use SSL: On.

●   POP3: Host Name: mail.got.net, Port: 110, Use SSL: On.

        For outgoing mail server (SMTP), set:

●   SMTP: Host Name: mail.got.net, Port: 587, Use SSL: On.

        Save the settings and test to ensure functionality.

 


Android Devices Configuration

Updating an Existing Account

Open the Email App:

●   Go to your device's Email app. This app might vary depending on the brand of your Android device (e.g., Samsung Email, Gmail, etc.).

Access Settings:

●   Tap on the menu icon (typically three lines or dots) in the upper corner of the app.

●   Select 'Settings' or 'Manage Accounts'.

        Select Your got.net Account:

●   Find and select your existing got.net email account from the list of accounts.

 

Update Incoming Server Settings:

●   Tap on 'Incoming Settings' or similar option.

●   Ensure the server  is set to mail.got.net

●   Set the port to: IMAP: 143 with SSL/TLS.

●   Ensure SSL/TLS is enabled.

 

 Update Outgoing Server Settings:

●   Go to 'Outgoing Settings' or similar.

●   Ensure the SMTP server is set to mail.got.net

●   Set the SMTP port to 587.

●   Make sure SSL/TLS (or STARTTLS if available) is enabled.

        Save Your Changes:

●    After updating the settings, save your changes. This option is usually found at the top-right corner of the screen.

 

Instructions may vary slightly depending on the Android version and email app used.

 


Testing and Troubleshooting

Test the Account:

●    Send a test email from your account to ensure that the new settings are working correctly.

 

Troubleshooting:

●    If you encounter issues, double-check the server settings, port numbers, and SSL/TLS configurations.

●    Ensure your email address and password are correctly entered.
